The O’Hara’s have been welcoming visitors to Sligo since the 5th century and continue in that tradition today. Coopershill remains a family home and guests tend to feel like they are visiting old friends who just happen to have an estate in the country!
Six ensuite bedrooms with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, real blankets, eiderdowns and electric blankets switched on during the evening turn-down make for the coziest beds in Ireland. The large bedrooms are furnished with four poster or canopy beds and original antique furniture, providing spectacular views of the rolling Sligo countryside.
The O’Hara’s are passionate about fresh, locally produced food. Breakfasts offer a wide spread of delicious treats from homemade jams and freshly squeezed orange juice to full Irish breakfasts. Afternoon tea is served with home baked scones and then there is the elegant four course dinners. Dinner menus change daily dictated by the freshest produce available and are complimented by a carefully selected wine list.
Just outside the dining room window at Coopershill there is the vegetable and fruit gardens and on the pastures surrounding the house their own herd of Fallow deer (which often grace the dinner table as tender venison). In season, most of the vegetables served are grown on the estate and might have been picked from the ground that same day. In 2009, Coopershill became the first luxury property in the UK or Ireland to achieve the EU Flower.
Coopershill is set in the beautiful countryside of Sligo in the West of Ireland. This is the land of W.B. Yeats, with mountains, lakes and megalithic ruins along with Championship golf courses, beaches and fishing just a short drive away. However, the best place to be is on the 500 acre estate at Coopershill with delightful paths through the woods and deer pastures.
Coopershill is a member of Ireland´s Blue Book and is open to overnight guests from the first of April to the end of October. The house is available all year for House Parties and Special Events.
