County Sligo Tourism Strategy 2018-2023

Marketing Sligo Forum was established in 1998 as a sectoral support project to drive the marketing and capacity development of tourism in the county. The organization acts as the lead instigator of marketing initiatives for the county and seeks to build strength into County Sligo’s tourism product offering through providing leverage supports to secure funding for priority projects. In 2010 an Independent review of Marketing Sligo Forum was undertaken to address the Forum’s role, structure and operations. Taking the consultation research and recommendations on board the Forum has adopted the progression options going forward.

From a governance and best practice perspective, the Forum going forward will have a formal structure namely: Sligo Tourism Limited. It’s Mission Statement: ‘actively promote Sligo at all levels, in order to achieve a positive and effective impact on economic, social and cultural development in the county’. It has a clear and realistic set of objections to instigate on a short, medium and long term timeline.

The Sligo Tourism Ltd (Board) comprises a Chairperson and 17 Board of Directors.

The Board meets eight times every year and is supported in its work by a number of committees.
